Roof-care information and help finding roofing businesses across Ireland

Your information, explained plainly

Privacy and Cookie Notice

How we use personal data when you browse the site, request roofing quotations, manage a contractor profile, create private business documents or pay for a FixMyRoof subscription.

Effective 22 October 2026

1. Who we are and what FixMyRoof does

FixMyRoof.ie ("FixMyRoof", "we", "us" or "our") is operated by Future Publishing, trading as FixMyRoof.ie, from 23 Lower Baggot Street, Dublin 2, D02 K009, Ireland. VAT number IE5204169V. Contact us about privacy at info@fixmyroof.ie.

FixMyRoof publishes roof-care information, provides a directory of roofing businesses and routes quotation requests. FixMyRoof does not carry out roofing work. A listed contractor is responsible for its own inspection, quotation, contract and work.

For the website, directory, quote-routing service, contractor accounts, subscriptions, security and our own business records, Future Publishing is the data controller.

Contractor customer records: when a contractor enters its own customer's details into the private document workspace, the contractor ordinarily decides why that information is used. FixMyRoof provides the secure workspace. FixMyRoof remains responsible for its own security, billing, audit and legal records.

2. What information we collect

Website visitors

  • IP address, browser and device information, requested pages, timestamps, referrer and security logs.
  • Cookie and consent choices, including the notice version shown.
  • Analytics and advertising information only where the required choice or other lawful permission exists.

Homeowners and quotation requests

  • Name, email address and optional phone number.
  • County, work type, job description and up to five optional photographs.
  • The selected contractor or the result when you ask for several quotes.
  • Consent, submission, anti-abuse and delivery records, including security-limited technical identifiers.

Please do not submit passwords, account details or unrelated personal information. Photographs should be taken safely from indoors or ground level and should avoid people, vehicle registrations, documents or other unnecessary identifying details.

Contractor accounts and business information

  • Account email, securely hashed password and sign-in/security records.
  • Business, contact, address, service-area, accreditation, membership, insurance and guarantee details.
  • Profile copy, opening information, social links, project images and supporting evidence.
  • Ownership checks, review notes, approvals and audit history.
  • Private invoice settings, VAT details, numbering, payment instructions, IBAN, BIC or payment link where supplied.
  • Subscription plan, authority, invoice, renewal, cancellation and support records.

Approved profile information may be made public. Private business, verification, banking, billing and draft information is not published unless the contractor deliberately includes suitable information in a final document it creates.

Contractor-created documents

The private workspace can hold customer names, email addresses, postal addresses, job references, work descriptions, line items, prices, VAT treatment, notes and document history. Contractors must only enter information they are entitled to use and must avoid unnecessary sensitive information.

Payments

Payments and card verification are handled on Viva's hosted service. FixMyRoof stores transaction references, payment status, amount, subscription state, recurring-payment permission and audit timestamps. FixMyRoof does not collect or retain the card number, expiry date or CVV.

We do not add quotation-request details to a marketing list unless the person makes a separate, clear choice to receive marketing.

4. Who receives information

We disclose personal data only as needed for the service, including to:

  • the roofer you select, or no more than three eligible local roofers where you request several quotations;
  • authorised staff and providers supporting hosting, security, email, storage, maintenance and customer support;
  • Viva for hosted card verification and payments;
  • Google, Meta and other named technology providers in accordance with the cookie choices and current configuration;
  • professional advisers, regulators, courts or law-enforcement bodies where required or justified;
  • a purchaser or successor if the service or business is reorganised, subject to appropriate safeguards.

We do not sell quotation-request details. Contractors who receive a request use the information as independent businesses, and their own privacy responsibilities apply after they receive it.

5. Cookies, analytics and advertising

We use a consent management platform to explain optional technologies and record your choices. Non-essential analytics and advertising technologies must not run until the required permission exists. You can reject optional uses, choose categories or vendors, and change your choice later.

  • Necessary storage: session, security, sign-in, anti-abuse, load and consent-choice functions.
  • Google Analytics 4: audience and site-use measurement when analytics permission is granted.
  • Google AdSense: advertising delivery and measurement through Google's certified consent framework. Current purposes and vendors are displayed in the consent manager.
  • Meta Pixel: advertising measurement or audience functions only when the required marketing permission is granted.
  • External and affiliate links: for example Amazon links. The destination may apply its own cookies after you choose to follow the link.

Non-personalised or limited advertising can still involve processing needed for delivery, fraud prevention, frequency controls or aggregated reporting.

6. Other sources and international transfers

We may receive business listing information from a contractor, an authorised representative, a public business source or an existing business record. Payment confirmations and transaction status come from Viva. Analytics or advertising providers may return aggregated reports or campaign events where their use is permitted.

Some providers may process information outside Ireland or the European Economic Area. Where this occurs, we require an applicable safeguard, such as an adequacy decision or approved contractual clauses, together with additional safeguards where appropriate.

7. How long we keep information

  • Quote requests: 12 months, then personal fields and private photographs are deleted or irreversibly anonymised, unless a narrower documented legal requirement applies.
  • Contractor accounts and profiles: while active and afterwards only as needed for support, disputes, security, legal obligations and publishing history.
  • Private contractor-created documents: under the contractor account and service terms. The contractor remains responsible for choosing an appropriate customer-record retention period.
  • Payment, invoice and tax records: order and invoice records are retained for six years after a subscription ends, in line with Irish accounting and tax record obligations.
  • Security and consent records: only as long as needed to protect the service and demonstrate the choice, notice version and withdrawal.

8. Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict your data; object to some processing; receive certain data in a portable format; withdraw consent; and complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission.

Email info@fixmyroof.ie to exercise a right. We may need proportionate information to verify your identity. We normally respond within one month, subject to the GDPR rules for complex or repeated requests. You can also contact the Data Protection Commission through dataprotection.ie.

9. Automated routing, security and children

The quote service applies location, work-type, eligibility and fair-rotation rules to identify possible contractors. Paid listing status does not improve routing odds. This does not make a solely automated decision with a legal or similarly significant effect: the homeowner chooses whether to engage a contractor and the contractor chooses whether and how to respond.

We use protected sessions, access controls, anti-abuse checks, audit records, file validation, metadata removal for supported gallery images and provider-hosted card entry. No internet service can promise absolute security.

The service is intended for adults arranging property work and authorised business users. Contractor accounts and paid subscriptions are not intended for children.

10. Changes and contact

We may update this notice when the service, providers or legal requirements change. The current version and effective date will appear on this page.
